Man comforts his small childby lifting them up as he walks by Khreschatik, where an exhibition of destroyed Russian Army vehicles is taking place to mark Kyiv Independence Day.
All celebrations were called off because of safety measures on public gatherings. On the Main Avenue of Kyiv, people dressed in colorful summer clothes, some wearing traditional embroidered shirts (Vyshyvankas), with family, friends, and small dogs in their arms, on feet, bikes, and in strollers, were watching the wreckage left by invading Russians. Each face froze for a long moment in a mixture of fear and disbelief.
