Gabor Toth

Gabor Mihaly Toth has a PhD in history from the University of Oxford, Balliol College. During his postgraduate studies he specialized in Digital Humanities. Following his PhD he was an assistant professor of Digital Humanities at the University of Passau. In 2016 he moved to the United States where he worked as research fellow in Digital Humanities at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC, at Yale University, and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Specifically, he worked for digital archives of Holocaust testimonies (Yale Fortunoff Archive, USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive). His research focuses on the application of data science for historical research. He is the author of two monographs. With Barbara Mcgillivray he wrote Applying Language Technology in Humanities Research (Palgrave Macmillan: 2020). He is the author of the digital monograph, In Search of the Drowned, Testimonies and Testimonial Fragments of the Holocaust (Yale Fortunoff Archive: 2021). At the moment he is a research fellow in Digital History at the University College, Cork.
