Since October 2025, Dr. Joseph Jukes has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Tampere University, working on the project “Picture Me: Presenting Queer Visual History”. The research explores queer rural lives in Finland through visual and affective methods. Previously, Jukes worked at Leeds Beckett University and the University of Bristol. The doctoral research examined LGBTQ+ rural communities in South West England and is being developed into a monograph.
